Great Aloha Run

My first time running the Great Aloha Run! 25,000 people, 8.15 miles from the Aloha Tower to the Aloha Stadium. I ran with my friend Micaela because Zui's too fast for me.We bought matching outfits for the run (I know, I'm cheesy)
TONS of people. Would you believe we didn't even cross the START line for a half hour after the race started?? Just waiting for the mobs of people to move in front of us. We didn't even pass the walkers until mile 4 or so. Next year we will come earlier so we can get a better line up.

We did it! Micaela and I finished in 1 hr 30 min and Zui in 1 hr 10 min. I came in 6,427th! Not bad!A fun goal, I'm glad I did it. Maybe next year I'll be fast enough to run with Zui! lol ;)

Happy Anniversary!

Well we've finally hit the big one--SIX years of marriage! Okay, so maybe it's not that many, but something about 4 kids makes me feel like we've been married forever ;) I took some time to look at some pics of that day not too long ago.

I was SO excited to be married to my man!

Now, 6 years later I am still so happily married. Zui was full of surprises this anniversary. 5 days before our anniversary he wrote me a poem each day. One day the poem ordered me to change into my swing clothes (that he had laid out). When I came into the house I was shocked--he had transformed our living room into a dance studio! We spent the night swing dancing away, then ate icecream just like the good ol' days.

We had 2 babysitters lined up for our one night getaway. My good friend Micaela took the 3 older and Lindsey had baby Jaz. The first thing we did was hike stairway to heaven. It's like being on a stairmaster forever (about 2 hours), but with great views!

It's hard to tell, but this is a huge cliff.

The view from the top was A-mazing. You could almost see the entire island, it was such a beautiful clear day.

By the time we got down we were both famished. We headed to Zui's favorite Korean restaurant--Camelia's. All you can eat meat cooked fresh right on your grill, it doesn't get much better than this.

On Saturday all we wanted to do was relax, so we slept in, had a huge complimentary breakfast at the hotel, took a 3 hour nap, then picked up our kids. It felt so great to sleep! We capped off our getaway with a short date out to DQ for waffle bowl sundaes(thanks Joy!).
What a great night away! So glad to be married to my true love, it was definitely the best decision I've ever made. Sure love ya Babes!

Zui hits the big 3-0!

Happy Birthday to my true love! Zui turned 30 on Friday. I've been planning his party for a few weeks now. I wanted to throw Zui a surprise party but it stresses me out too much--trying to keep secrets from him. I threw him a surprise party for his 25th and it just about killed me. So I just went ahead and told him I was gonna throw him a party. It was mostly just family that came, which still made for a pretty big party considering the size of his family :)

In the morning Zui slept in while I made him waffles with sauteed apples and fresh whipped cream--yum. Then he watched the kids so I could go get my hair cut. Yes you heard me right, Zui watched the kids so I could get pampered--is that fair? Not really, but I'm glad he was okay with it ;) I wanted to look decent for his party and I knew they were going to style my hair (how vain am I??)
Later that day Zui took a nap, then played basketball with some friends. Dad and Yvonne watched the kids from 5-7pm so we could clean the house and get ready for the company. I started to feel really stressed about 6:30pm when I started making the pizzas. Mostly because I spent too long doing this:

see that cute sign? I really REALLY wanted to get it done before the party so there I was, 5:30pm sticking those vinyl letters up on the wall (p.s. did you guys know this is SO easy to do? Buy vinyl from Walmart, borrow a friend's Cricut, and 10 minutes later you're sticking them on your wall). I love hosting parties because they inspire me to get things done in the house: deep clean, organize the toys, touch up paint...you know, finish the list of projects I've been meaning to do for forever. I never get them all done, but at least I make a dent in my list. So anyways, that sign was one of them--phew!

By 7pm as guests started to arrive and I was still making pizzas and melting by the 500 degree oven I thought "why didn't we just do Costco pizza?" Seriously, what was I thinking?? Luckily some angels came by (Amy Kim and Joy Yamada) and started cleaning my kitchen and making more dough for me so I could go feed the baby. I seriously felt so overwhelmed with their generosity, how they just jumped in and took a load off my back--big Mahalos!
Dessert was simple: brownies and icecream. Do you like my haircut? I cut off about 5 inches (tired of the Mom-do: hair in a ponytail EVERY day).
Anyways, back to Zui: We didn't really do anything at his party. Everyone ate and talked story, it was fun, nice and laid back.

Sheena, Kapono, Tiff and Brian
Yvonne, dad, and the Morden's. Yvonne held baby Jaz the whole night (thank you!). See those bandages on Dad? He tripped outside in his garden and landed face first on some bricks. Zui took him to the ER. Luckily he's okay.
Jenna, Amy, Lindsey, Lehua
The kids had a great time playing together. I had no ideas my hangars made great guns but the boys loved it.

The girls dressed up over and over again--switching outfits, changing tiaras..so cute. Kaila and Kyra with Anjuli.
Zui scooped icecream cones for all the kids. That was a great idea, the kids loved it and it was super easy.I'm so glad it didn't rain, it was nice to have the kids outside on the deck.
Everyone had a really fun time, and it was great to see all the family and close friends over to support Zui. Happy 30th Birthday, Babes!

Father's Day

We got back from Taiwan just a few days before Father's Day. I remember my mom asking me if Jasmine was gaining weight, so I took these pictures of her to show off her belly rolls.
My personal favorite...gotta love the hair. It seriously sticks straight up 2 inches or so.
Zui got a big happy family for Father's Day :) Can you believe this young handsome dad is father to Four?!!

We sure love ya, Zui!

Happy Bday Zui!!

Happy 29th Birthday, Zui!! We celebrated by taking the fam to Ko'olina. We had fun relaxing while the kids played their hearts out.
Zeya sure loves his daddy :)
This is what Zion did almost the entire time we were there...
What a handsome little bugga...
Zeya had fun playing with sand...
and, unfortunately, eating it too.
That night Zui and I went out to Cattle Company to celebrate. Mmm...so nice to eat a good steak.
Zui got Starcraft 2 and Avatar. He was pretty stoked.
Happy Birthday Babes!
I'm so glad I married such a good man. He is such a hard worker, plays with the kids, and is sensitive to my needs. I sure love him!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy! Anjuli and Zion each gave Zui a book. Zion gave him "Just Like Daddy" --a cute board book.
Anjuli gave him "Kisses for Daddy." This is a super cute book we discovered from the library. Anjuli repeatedly asked for it every night.
I made Decadent French Toast (and mmm it was good :)
Zui has been an awesome dad. He loves rough-housing with his boys, and dancing with his princess at the "ball." He takes them to the park, the pool, out shopping to Costco, and even to the zoo--ALL by HIMSELF (crazy, I know!). This is usually while I'm teaching piano. Thanks, Zui, for being Super Dad! We all love you!

Zui's New Love

Zui's surfboard finally arrived! A present from last year's birthday from the Kim ohana. He had it custom made. The top Chinese character means "Kim."

No joke, this is how I found Zui after going to the kitchen for a drink of water. Looks like I've been replaced!

Zui at the campout on Maleakahana. They had to evacuate at 3am the next day due to the tsunami.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy 4 years to us! For our anniversary this year I wanted to bike the North Shore. It's something we did a few times when we were dating.

Zui had fun feeding the chickens some cornbread. Anjuli would have loved to see that.
We stopped at every beach we passed: Three tables, Shark's Cove, Leftovers, Pipeline, Rocky's, Keiki's, and Sunset.

It was so great to be able to bike ride again. The North Shore is so much easier to access on bike than by car. The trail along the North Shore is real pretty, too.

I married the best man. Zui has been such the perfect husband for me. I'm so grateful he is so kind and caring, understanding and patient. We have the most fun together :) Thank you Babes, for another great year!

Looking forward to many more that come...
